Little Souls There is no greater pleasure then watching our wandering little souls explore the world and find their own place of happiness. Take a look

Sunniva 1 week old | Nyfødt fotografering Stavanger

In August Sunniva came to visit me for a photo session. She was a little darling and as all other babies that come to see me, a joy to photograph. Every time I see a newborn I am just so amazed at how perfect they. I love the little details and as you can see here the little lashes, the finger nails… Need I go on, they are just perfectly and cuddly.

Week 37 In the park wearing Alba*Baby | By Evy Fotograf Stavanger

In addition to photography I have a love of childrens clothing. I don’t have a specific style i like as I feel all clothes suit different situations. I adore whimsical clothing from Matilda Jane especially if I were to do an outdoor photo session with my daughters. Their playful use of colours, fabric and style means it characterise childhood. Then I have the love of the pure outfit, the vintage cream and lace which represents the innocent and purity of a child. These are outfits that I love to put them in especially during the warm summer days. For every day wear, we try to choose practical but both my girls have their own style.
However when it comes to nursery clothing I found that a lot of my daughters wardrobe was not very practical for nursery. Having large ruffle trousers from Matilda Jane is just not comfortable in wellington boots or under a snowsuit. I have been drawn to the scandinavian retro clothing and a year ago I came accross a brand called Alba*Baby and I immediately fell in love. The clothes was functional, colourful and funky. I felt that the clothes represented my daughters personality and they were ideal clothes for nursery.
We made our first purchase last year to test them out and I was really pleased with their quality and washwear. They have survived several trips in the washingmachine. I don’t like when my girls wear washed out clothes, I like clothes that wash well and look good even after 5, 10 or 20 washes and the clothes from Alba*Baby past the test. I was so impressed with the clothes that I have made my second purchase and I can already tell you that there will be a 3rd and 4th purchase too. I was at the playpark with my daughter and decided to take a few photos just to show how cute and functional these clothes are. With Alba*Baby’s permission I am also sharing some stock images of these adorable clothes.

Tops and Tees

The cotton has a nice soft feel to it. It fits tight and don’t ride up and reveal their skin so keep them nice and warm. The sleeves has long elastic cuff on the arms. If we buy a size to big this will keep the excess fabric further up on the arm or you have plenty of cuff to roll up witout it getting bulky. When it comes to puttig on a jacket or another top or jumper you don’t have the problem where the sleeve ride up the arm leaving the skin exposed. You no longer have to navigate up the jacket sleeve to try and get the cuff of the jumper to pull down. When the child is to put on gloves, the design makes this process a lot easier too. So overall a winner for me.

Bottoms
Their bottoms have again got a really nice soft feel to them. I have these in cotton, corduroy and velour. For comfort and washwear I would say the corduroy and velour wins hands up. After several washes, they still look like new. The waist of the baggy corduroy pants has an adjustable elastic band which is ideal for my daughter. We have with both elastic finish and with cuff finish. Both allow you to buy a size larger to add room for growth. The elastic and cuff means excess fabric are just adding character to the bottoms. This function makes them comfortable for the children to move around and play.

The long cuffs on the bottoms are great for nursery. When putting on snowsuit, rain clothes, boots, extra layer of warm socks… the bottom stay the same. It is not excess fabric inside the boots so a winner all aroudn for both comfort and flexibility.

Jumpers and Zipped jackets
These are fun for colder days or to use instead of a jacket during spring, summer and early autumn. The shape of the hood is playful and add to the child character. The same comfortable fabric making it a great addition.

So if you are like me and enjoy to dress your child in funky, functional, colourful, practical and child like clothes. Then why not check out Alba*Baby.

Alba*Baby was kind enough to allow me to use their stock images.

Week 36 – Princess Beauty Parlour | By Evy Photography

It was a nice and quiet evening at home. We had finished dinner, had our pudding and the girls was watching tv and just relaxing prior to bedtime. I was doing some housework and when I return from the utility room I find that my livingroom had been turned into a princess beauty parlour.

All their princess dressing up costumes were lined up on the sofa and head dresses, gloves and wands spread nicely across the coffee table.

Molly has long gorgeous blond hair but keeping it tidy or doing anything to it has been a challenge and one we are slowly working to overcome. Her messy hair has become a trademark and one that we have decided we can live with. Grace on the other hand, loves her hair tidy and like when it is in a neat pony tale or done up with a bun. What amazed me was the fact that Molly allowed Grace to do her hair. She sat there nice and quiet whilst her sister made an attempt to put it into a bun using a donut. And then off course it was Molly’s turn to try and sort her sisters hair and she managed something with a little help from a friend.

In Loving Memories – Letters to my daughters III | By Evy Photographer

It has taken me a while to write about Snowy and decided it was time I put it on paper. I hope you girls will remember Snowy. Snowy was born in the October holidays 2001 on a farm in the outskirts of Aberdeen, your grandparents had decided to give Mummy and Daddy a kitten for Christmas as we had been looking for one and then Grandma heard about someone who had one kitten looking for a home. In 2001 Aberdeen experienced a white Christmas and as a result Snowy never arrived to our flat in time and it felt like weeks and not days when we waited for the snow to melt enough for us to get our kitten. So if you ever wonder why we named him Snowy, now you know, it was because we really wanted him in our lives just like we wanted the two of you.

Snowy was a fun kitten, he was cuddly, inquisitive, friendly and stubborn. Snowy used to enjoy a few hours outside and if we went to the corner shop he would follow us and sit outside waiting. He used to come with us to visit Grandma and Grandad, here he became best friends with their dog Corrie. He used to follow Corrie around the house trying to catch her tale. On days when Corrie came to visit us Snowy came for a walk with us and used to play hide and seek with Corrie in the high grass. I guess it is one of those relationships you have to experience between a cat and a dog to really appreciate it.

In 2002, we moved house and as we travelled Snowy took up his place on the passenger side dashboard watching as we were driving across town to our first home. Shortly after I received yet another lively Christmas present, his sister Mara, a Norwegian Forest Cat all the way from Sussex. Mara and Snowy shortly became best friends, just like the two of you are such good sisters to each other.
When Grace arrived in 2005 our cats had settled nicely into our family and they were not sure who this individual was and took a while to warm to you both. Snowy had started to sleep in Grace’s bed and enjoyed getting a cuddle as soon as she was under her covers.

Over the years Snowy has given us so much love and so much affection. He has been a cat with the biggest character. People often say that cats are not loyal and would follow who feed them, they say they are not the pet to wag their tale when you get home from work. Well, I will say that they were all wrong and that they have not been blessed with a cat like Snowy in their lives. We have been so lucky to have met him and have him in our lives.

Snowy wanted to be everyone’s friend, he must be one of the friendliest cats around. When Grace was a baby I used to go for walks and Snowy would follow us, if we ran into a dog, he would stop and wait for the dog to come over and say hello. If the dog allowed it he would walk nicely alongside. He made friends with every cat around and on several occasions I have watched him laying just a metre away from birds watching them jump around in our grass eating bird seeds. I even had neighbours telling me stories of how he came for walks with them when out pushing their daughter in the pram.

Snowy just could not meow, he had a little squeak and every day when we arrived home from work he used to come running to us with his little squeak and rubbing up against us. It was his way of wagging a tale.

I could go on telling you stories of how he would wake us up with a pat on our face when he wanted a cuddle, how he wanted to give us kisses, how upset he was when we left him to go on holiday. If I were to write about all the special little things Snowy did I would keep on writing tomorrow.

Sadly this summer we noticed that Snowy was not himself, he was hiding away, he seemed to struggle walking  up the stairs… so I took him to the vet. After a couple of visits to the vets it was discovered that he had an infection. Despite being put on antibiotics he sadly gave up his fight and we had to say goodbye to Snowy.

We have a little stone in the garden in memory of Snowy and it is a place we can go when we want to think of him and remember him. Both of you often speak about him and how you miss him. You both share our love for animals and I hope this continue when you grow up. I hope you are always going to remember Snowy.

I have added some photos of Snowy from last summer, this summer and for the weeks we were crossing our fingers hoping he would recover.

This month I am linking to my friend Donna and her letter to Daisy

The art of newborn photography Part II | By Evy Stavanger nyfødt fotograf

I was lucky enough to test out the dark floor and wall set. It really makes me want something similar in our studio. Look how adorable this baby girl is tucked up in the trench bowl.
