Week 21 – There is something new in my room | By Evy Photography fotograf i Stavanger

The finishing touches on the girls bedrooms are taking its time. But this week I received the gorgeous wooden wall blocks that I had ordered so finally getting some images added to the picture shelf. My mum has also been busy knitting a cardigan for my daughter and it only need buttons but she was so excited to see the finished result that she put it on to go home, so I hung it up in her bedroom and we only need to go out and purchase some cute little buttons to add to it. It is nice and colourful a perfect match to my daughters colourful personality.

Week 20 Breakfast Alfresco | Stavanger fotograf By Evy Photography

We woke up to an absolutely glorious Saturday morning, the sun was shining and the temperatures were near 20 degrees Celsius. Warmest day by far so far this year and we were totally unprepared…. well I guess just unprepared that we did not expect it. My girls wardrobe never lack outfits and I was desperate to try this combo by Matilda Jane Clothing, a top from last year spring/summer collection combined with a gorgeous little shorts from this years spring/summer collection. She choose to put the hairband in herself and like all other days she refused to let me brush her hair… she calls the messy hair “curls” and she likes her “curls”.

So as unprepared as I am, I can soon become prepared and soon we had made some breakfast alfresco in the garden. Ruffle tent which was a custom order by Fimbly. I asked her to make it for me last summer sharing an online tutorial I had found. I know there was some frustration and a number of broken needles but it looks awesome. So thank you Linda for being patient with me and all my unique requests. So we covered the ground with blankets as I suspected it was a bit damp and then off course, there is no proper breakfast without allowing her dollies and teddies to attend.

Week 19 My new lens has arrived | By Evy fotograf Stavanger

I have been walking a round for a few months now weighing up and down what lens to get. Do I follow my head or listen to my heart. Do I use caution first or do I jump in with both feet. It is just not any lens we are talking about it is the Canon 70-200 lens. I tried this lens a couple of years ago and I fell madly in love with it, I just loved the clarity and colour. I tried the F4 and Tamara Knight an amazing photographer in Florida who photographed my family used the F2.8 and I loved te depth of field from it.

At first I was going to get the Canon EF 70-200mm L f4 IS USM,this was average price for high end lenses charged at £899 at Warehouse Express. Then I had my photo session with Tamara saw the end result and decided to read reviews. The Canon EF 70-200mm L F2.8 II USM got really good reviews and write up but it is also a much heaver lens at 1490gr. Together with the camera body weighing 950gr this means a total weight of nearly 2.5kg to lift and carry during a session. Can I do this, are my arms strong enough? The last question to ask was… do I wait until I can justify the higher cost of £1799. The question was whether I save and buy the best lens right away or start with the lighter version and explore whether or not this is a lens I am likely to continue to use.

There was no doubt about it my heart said 2.8 mainly because I love to shoot wide open whilst my head said f4. This would be the practical choice, I would most likely use it outdoor so the extra f-stops were not required and walking around it would be practical with a lighter lens. But I always went back to the test and did wonder if I should listen to my heart.

So what do you think I did?

I actually did think with my head this time, I decided it was a huge investment at the time being and that I need to get used to the lens, its use etc before investing in a lens twice the price. So in week 19 it arrived, months and months after I decided to invest in a new lens.

The following day we were set to fly to UK for a long weekend with friends and family, but sadly Widerøe had a strike that weekend leaving us to re-book and re-arrange our weekends break. So to entertain the kids the day we were suppose to fly and meet friends and family we decided to bake a cake. My girls, especially my youngest one loves to lick the bowl and what a perferct opportunity it was to test out this lens and see if it was as expected.

I am planning to write a proper review in the near future. These images has been captured with my Canon EOS Mark II featuring my new news Canon EF 70-200 L F4 IS USM. This is shot in my living room at around 3pm on a cloudy day. I adjusted camera settings to the light conditions and did not use any off camera flash or lighting equipment.

Camera settings was as follow: Manual, F4, ISO 1600, Shutter Speed 1/80sec
Images has had light editing in Lightroom and Photoshop.

I have decided to share a SOOC image with you to see what the image looked like before I did any editing with it.

Once my life settle down a little I was hoping to blog a little review of my feelings of the lens so far.

Digital photo album | By Evy Photography Stavanger Fotograf

I want to introduce one of my products. It is my custom digital photobook. The photobooks are customised per client and can be from a simplicity design to a digital scrapbook design. If you don’t have enough room on your wall to display the images from your session, this book can proudly be displayed and shared with family and friends. This is the perfect product for those who want as many images as possible from the session or those who never get around to displaying their images around their home.

I love my own product so much that I use it for personal projects. The pages fold fully flat and are of high quality and thicker then usual digital photo books.

Week 18 – Sunday Walk | Stavanger Fotograf

I have been so busy lately that I am struggling to keep up to date with everything going on. Then I realised that I had created to set of blog posts for week 18….

So here we go again…. week 18 Sunday Walk.

The weather is finally heating up and I want to make more use of the lovely outdoor so took my girls for a Sunday walk… however the kids did not want to walk and whilst trying to do a local wood path the kids found this bike track and my Sunday walk became a Sunday sit down to watch my kids play kind of day.
