Week 11 – Good morning sunshine | Stavanger fotograf

~*~
Good morning sunshine
~*~

Saturday morning we were all getting ready for a little trial gymnastic competition. My youngest was still asleep when I got upstairs so I opened her blinds and said it’s morning time, before continuing to see her big sister.

A couple of minutes later I turn around and I see this sleepy head peeping up from the duvet with the biggest morning grin on her face ever. It is these moments that completely melt a mothers heart.

So I rush to get my camera just to capture some cute images of my daughter as she wakes up after a good nights sleep. She is enjoying a good yawn, letting the morning sun shine in her face whilst at the same time having the blank, tired face of “I am not quite awake yet”.

To me these are images I am always going to treasure and everytime I look at them my heart just fills with love.

Birthday invitations with a difference | Stavanger fotograf

I take so much photos and usually create invitations with some kind of photo on it. But you got to love pinterenst and whilst browsing pinterest my daughter spotted some lollypop flowers and immediately said… I want to have those as my birthday invitations. So I went out and got some paper and decided to make up some invitations.

I got some double sided scrap book paper and cut lots of hearts out. Each flower has 3 hearts to create the petal shapes and then I added some green paper to create some leafs. The invitations I just printed out and added at the bottom. It was one very happy girl who handed these handmade invites out to  her friends.
I have to say that so far it is probably the invites I have spent the least time on but the kids have enjoyed receiving the most 🙂

Project 52 Week 10 – New home

~*~
Three C’s of life:
choice, chances and changes
You must make a choice to take a chance or your life will never change
~*~
TWO THOUSAND AND THIRTEEN
This is the year or a fresh start and new beginnings. For several reasons, 2012 just was not the best of years for me and for many personal reasons it was the year that made me realise it is time to make a change. My life was stuck in a vicious circle that I just could not get out of, I was too busy and never really got the time to enjoy the things in life that matters the most. I always felt as if I was in a boxing match trying to defend my corner and win the battle against the busy life. But somehow I never managed to find the balance and I kept firefighting in every avenue of my life.

So I wanted a fresh start and I decided that I after 14 years in UK it was time for me to return to Norway. So we put our house in Aberdeen on the market and started applying for work and the after a few months things started to fall into place and we were ready to make the move. On the 28th December we made the move, just in time for the new year. I was back in Tananger (a place just outside Stavanger), it is the place I grew up and a place filled with lots of happy memories. It is the place I wanted to take my children to get a feel for life in Norway.

By no means do I expect life in Norway to be a dance on roses and I do expect to “start” again after 14 years away, but it was the place I wanted to take my family and give us a new start, a new beginning.

So where is this blog post ending… well after 10 weeks in Norway, our house in Aberdeen has sold and the exchange completed back in February and in week 10 we received the keys for the house that we are going to make our new home, our new haven and our new place to create happy memories.

We are spending a couple of weeks doing some home improvements, mainly to the girls bedrooms in the first instance and then get settled and officially move into the new home. I am sure there will be several blog posts in the weeks ahead sharing images of our new home and especially the girls bedrooms where we have spent hours trying to create a girls dream room.

The story of my cat Mara | Stavanger fotograf

I always wondered how the cats would cope with the move but they have exceeded our expectations. The cats traveled with a flight earlier then ours and had already been picked up and started to settle at my parents house. After about a week we were able to let them out to explore the outside and they quickly settled into their usual routine of out through the day and in at night.

This story however is about my cat Mara, she is what you would call a lapcat. When the evening falls and kids are in bed all she want is a lap to lie on. Here in Norway however, she has found her spot and it is my mum’s lap in her tv chair. If my mum is doing laundry or sitting on the computer she will walk around and find her. She will meow and talk to her and she will keep talking as if she is telling her something.
On a few occasions we have tested it, my mum get up and away from what she is doing and the cat runs into the living room. She will meow and talk and walk to sit next to her seat. She meows and wait for my mum to sit down and as soon as her legs goes up on that leg rest she will jump up.
At first we thought it was a coincident but it is happening every night so clearly she has found her spot. As I am typing this, I am sitting in my mum’s chair as she is out tonight and on my side, resting over the arm rest is Mara sleeping soundly.

I don’t feel any different | Stavanger Fotograf

I just love the little conversations you at times have with your children.

On the morning of her 8th birthday my daughter wake up and with a sleepy head walk into my bedroom. Half asleep I tell her…. I have your presents and her sleepy head got all excited. She was handed her gifts to unwrap but before she starts unwrapping them, she looks at me and she say
“mummy, I don’t feel like 8, I don’t feel any different to how I felt yesterday”
So then mummy explains that turning another year older don’t mean that she have to feel any bigger it just means that we celebrate that amazing day when she entered into our world. She was comforted with the idea that she don’t have to feel any different.
Before bed I told her…. We need some I am 8 birthday photos and what happens when you let your child decide where and how she wants here photos done… well in a small hallway and images full of life….
Childhood…. whats not to love 🙂
