On the other side of the lens | Aberdeen Portrait Photographer

Ever since my youngest was born I have wanted some family photos done but it is one of these things that for one reason or another has not happen.
In March my eldest turned 7 and suddenly I come to realise that my youngest will be 3 in June and still we don’t have one decent family picture. With the holiday approaching I decided to start researching photographers in Orlando.
Being a photographer myself I knew what I was looking for and all I needed was to find a photographer who I thought could take my vision and capture stunning images. After a couple of weeks of searching I came accross Tamara Knight Photography. She created lovely images that fitted my style and showed through her work that she was creative too. I sent her an email and we started talking back and forward where I shared my vision and we booked a session.
My vision was around retro american images such as american diner, ice cream parlour etc. With that in mind we had arranged to meet at Downtown Disney followed by a park location.
In the run up to going on holiday I had gone through most of our wardrobes trying to figure out what to wear. I hand until this point I had not appreciated how difficult it is for my clients choosing what to wear for a photo session. I spent a few days hanging clothes together and lying them on the floor to help me to decide what works well together.

During our first week we had a trip to Old Town Orlando, and both my husband and I fell in love with the place and I knew it would work so well as a retro location.
On the day of the session I was nervous due to the fact I was going to be on the other side of the camera but Tamara put us all to ease. Several times I was told not to try and make my kids, just be yourself and let me capture the images I was told. From my own experience I know that some of the best images are captured when you let kids be kids, yet as a mum I was unable to follow my own advise when on the other end of the lens.
In the end Tamara captured some amazing images and sadly due to logistical difficulties we came to an arrangement where I purchased the digital negatives to enable me to order prints in the UK as it would just have been too expensive to have frames shipped from US to UK.
Once back in the UK I ordered a number of frames from my Heritage collection in lovely vibrant colours and ordered some prints from my supplier to fit into the frames. Tonight they are hanging proudly on the wall.

I hope you have enjoyed reading about my experience being on the other side of the lens and with Tamaras permission I would like to show you some of the amazing images she captured.
