When you move away from home it sometimes surprise you the things that you miss, often it is not the things you expect to miss. Having spent 14 years in Aberdeen I know there will be things I will miss about my second home, especially my friends but also the little things double Decker, strangely enough my daughters gymnastics as it was such a lovely community.
When I think about Norway and the things I missed the most when I was away was my family and close family relations but also our family escape of the cabin in Sirdal. I loved our weekends away skiing as a child. I loved the evenings inside a caravan or cabin playing games and having quality family time. During the day we would be out enjoying the snow, digging, sledging and skiing.
I love watching my girls love the same thing and I love watching them learn how to ski. I love the joy I see on their face, their lovely rosy red cheeks, their laughter and the frustrated determination to master skiing. I love the hills dressed in fresh white snow, free from cars and dirt. In other words it is a place that has me at ease, where I relax and truly enjoy being. When it is something I enjoy, it makes me feel so blessed to see my girls love it equally as much.
Below are some images of some of the loves in my life. One of the things I have missed and also a look into my daughters joy whilst skiing, making snow angels and just chilling in the “pulk” (the name of the sledge I use to pull my daughter along on a ski trip too long for her tiny legs).
