Week 13 – Happy Easter | Stavanger Fotograf

It feels good being back to Norway when Easter is Easter. In Scotland there are no specific public holidays related to Easter, school Easter break is usually the first two weeks of April and never related to the religious events that is Easter.

In Norway we have 1/2 day on the Wednesday of Easter week, Time off Holy Thursday, Good Friday and Pentecost Sunday which includes the Monday. As a result most families usually take time off and enjoy some quality time with their friends and family whether at home, their holiday home or abroad.
I grew up with a week up in the mountains skiing and playing in the snow. My parents have a cabin up in the mountains and we spend the week there. This year my parents took my girls up to the cabin at the beginning of the week whilst I worked and finally got to the end of DIY and got to move into our house. On the Wednesday evening after work I drove up to join them for the rest of the week.
Every day we woke up to temperatures of around -10 to -14 degrees Celsius and a clear blue sky. We spent a minimum of 5 hours outside every day sledging, skiing or just enjoying the sun.
My daughter is desperate to try downhill skiing next year so guess we have to brave the slopes rather then just admire them.
